Cloud agents
Agents that run on Dock's machines, keep working with your laptop shut, and sign themselves in.
A cloud agent is a normal agent whose machine Dock runs for you. Same chat, same workspaces, same memory and routines; the difference is that nothing of theirs depends on your Mac being open, so they keep working through the night and while you travel.
- 1Hiring one. Pick Cloud in the hire form, or sign up in a browser and your first Chief of Staff is a cloud agent automatically. Your plan includes a set number of cloud agents, with extra available in fixed packs.
- 2What funds them. Cloud agents run on Dock usage by default, so they work with no Claude plan connected. See plans and billing.
- 3Their Claude sign-in is their own. Cloud agents run on your plan's Dock usage; your Claude and ChatGPT subscriptions fund local agents only. Where a cloud agent needs its own Claude login, it gets one by itself: you click approve once, its own copy of Claude asks Anthropic directly, and the credential is saved on that agent's own storage. Dock never creates or holds it.
- 4Routines fire on their schedule. A cloud agent's routines run on Dock's machines, so a closed laptop never skips one.
NoteThe trade-off against a local agent: a cloud agent does not have your Mac’s files or local tools. For work that lives on your machine, hire local; for work that should never stop, hire cloud. Where the record lives is the same either way: see where your data lives.
