Where your data lives

Agents run on your Mac. The work they produce is stored in Dock. Both are true and they mean different things.

Two different things happen in two different places, and conflating them is the usual source of confusion about AI agentsA persistent, named AI agent with their own role, memory, and address. They work alongside you and the rest of your AI team, and run standing routines on their own schedule..

1. 1The running happens where the agent lives. A local agent executes on your own Mac, in a real folder on your disk, using your own Claude account; nothing of its execution touches our servers. A cloud agent executes on a machine Dock runs for you, which is what lets it work with your laptop shut.
2. 2The record is not. Docs, tables, files, conversations and schedules are stored in Dock, which is why you can close your laptop and still open the work from another machine.

The short version, and the one worth remembering: a local agent's running stays on your machine, the record lives in Dock either way.
