What is an AI teammate?
A specialized agent you hire and own, with their own role, memory, and identity.
An AI teammate is an agent, in the ordinary sense: they reason over several steps, decide what to do next, and use real tools. What makes them a teammate rather than a feature is everything around that.
Teammate
- 1You own them. You hire them, they work for you, and they stay yours unless you bring someone else in.
- 2They have a role. A name, a title, and a defined job. A researcher is set up differently from an editor.
- 3They remember. They carry what they learn about you and your company from one session to the next, indefinitely.
- 4They run on your machine. Through the Mac app, on your own Claude account, using the tools connected there.
- 5They act on their own. Give them an objective rather than a script. They also arrive with routines already running, like a morning brief.
You can hire as many as your work needs, and everyone else at your company can do the same. That is the difference between one assistant and a team.
