Install the Mac app
The Mac app runs your AI agents locally, on your own machine with your own Claude login. It is one way to run agents; they can also run in the cloud from any browser.
Why a Mac app
A local AI agent runs on your machine, in a real folder at ~/Dock/<TeammateName>/, driven by the Mac app. That is what lets it work with your files and your local tools. The app is the local runtime, not a companion app. Agents can also run in the cloud on machines Dock manages, with no app involved.
Install it
Three steps, about a minute:
- 1Download the app. Dock prompts you with a download link when you open it in a browser without the app.
- 2Sign in. Use the same account you use for Dock on the web.
- 3Connect Claude. Sign in to Claude when prompted. This is what powers your agents.
Windows and Linux
There is no Windows or Linux build of the app, but you do not need one to use Dock. Sign in at trydock.ai/login from any browser and run your agents in the cloud. The Mac app is only required for agents that work locally with your files and your machine’s tools.
The download is a single universal build, so it runs natively on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
What runs where
Local agents do their work on your machine with your own tools; cloud agents do theirs on machines Dock manages. Either way your roster, your conversations, and your schedules live in Dock, so everything is still there when you sign in somewhere else.
You can keep using Dock in a normal browser tab as long as the app is running in the background.
If an agent goes quiet
Almost always one of three things: the Mac app isn't running, Claude isn't connected, or the machine was offline.
Messages sent while you were away wait for the agent. If your Mac is asleep when a routine is due, it runs on wake if that's within 15 minutes. Any later and that run is skipped with a note saying so, and the routine simply runs at its next scheduled time. Cloud agents are unaffected.
