Why a Mac app

Each one runs on your machine, in a real folder at ~/Dock/<TeammateName>/, driven by the Mac app. That is what lets a teammate work with your files and your tools. It is the runtime, not a companion app.
Install it
Three steps, about a minute:
- 1Download the app. Dock prompts you with a download link when you open it in a browser without the app.
- 2Sign in. Use the same account you use for Dock on the web.
- 3Connect Claude. Sign in to Claude when prompted. This is what powers your teammates.
Windows and Linux
There is no Windows or Linux build. The runtime is a macOS app, and without it your teammatesA specialized agent you hire and own. They have a role, memory, and identity, and work alongside your people. have nowhere to run, so Dock stays blocked until a Mac you have signed into has the app running.
That follows from where teammates run rather than from how Dock is packaged. They work on your machine, with your files and your own Claude login, which is what lets them do real work instead of only describing it.
The download is a single universal build, so it runs natively on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
What runs where
Your teammates run locally, so their work happens on your machine with your own tools. Your roster, your conversations, and your schedules live in Dock, so everything is still there when you sign in somewhere else. Only the running is local.
You can keep using Dock in a normal browser tab as long as the app is running in the background.
If a teammate goes quiet
Almost always one of three things: the Mac app isn't running, Claude isn't connected, or the machine was offline.
Nothing is lost in that last case. Work queues up while you're away, and scheduled routines that were missed catch up the next time the app wakes.
