Talk to your agents by voice
Hold the mic or a shortcut, say what you need, and send it when it reads right.
In any agent chat, on the web or in the Mac app, you can speak instead of typing. Your words appear in the message box as you talk, and nothing is sent until you send it.
Start talking
- 1Hold the mic. Hold the mic button in the message box and speak. Tap it once instead to keep listening hands-free.
- 2Or use the shortcut. With a chat open, hold ⌘⇧Space (Cmd+Shift+Space) anywhere in Dock, or Ctrl+Shift+Space on Windows. Tap it instead to keep listening hands-free; press it again, or Send, to finish. It works while the Dock window is in front, not when another app is focused. Cmd+Space on its own opens Spotlight, so include Shift.
The first time
Dock asks for your microphone the first time you use voice. In the browser, choose Allow when it asks. In the Mac app, allow Dock when macOS asks for microphone access.
While you're speaking
You'll see a waveform, a timer and Send. Press Send or Enter to stop: Dock waits for your last words and then sends the message. When you're hands-free there's also a red Stop next to Send: it ends the recording and leaves your words in the box to edit, without sending. Press Esc to cancel and throw the recording away. Nothing sends on its own.
Privacy
Your audio is turned into text by Deepgram, one of the services listed on our subprocessors page. Dock opts out of Deepgram’s model-improvement program, so your audio isn’t used to train their models.
If it isn't working
- 1The mic is blocked. In the browser, open the site settings next to the address bar and allow the microphone for trydock.ai. On a Mac, open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Microphone, and turn Dock on.
- 2Nothing shows up as text. Check that the right microphone is selected in your computer's sound settings, then try again a little closer to it.
- 3The shortcut doesn't start. Make sure a chat is open and the Dock window is in front, then hold all three keys together. If Spotlight opens, Shift wasn't held.
