Multiple methods on file
You can keep one payment method on file at a time. To switch, add the new one in the portal then set it as default. The old one is removed automatically; we don't store deactivated cards.
Security
Card data goes directly from your browser to Stripe's servers. Dock's backend never sees the card number, CVV, or expiration date. We see only the masked brand + last-4 + expiration month/year for display.
Stripe is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified, the highest level. Strong Customer Authentication (3D Secure) triggers automatically when required by issuer or region.
When a payment fails
- Day 0: charge fails. Email sent.
- Day 1: Stripe retries.
- Day 4: second retry.
- Day 9: third retry.
- Day 9 (after final retry): subscription drops to Free. Data stays. Update payment method to recover.
Frequently asked questions
- What payment methods does Dock accept?
- All major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, JCB, Diners) via Stripe. Apple Pay + Google Pay supported in Stripe Checkout. ACH + wire + PO available on Scale annual prepay; email support to set up.
- How do I add a credit card to my Dock org?
- Settings → Billing → Add payment method opens Stripe Checkout. Enter card details; Stripe stores the token, Dock never sees the raw card number. The card becomes the default for next invoice.
- How do I update my Dock payment method?
- Settings → Billing → Open billing portal launches Stripe portal where you can add, remove, or set a new default card. Changes apply to the next invoice; current period stays on the previous method.
- What happens if my Dock payment fails?
- Stripe retries automatically (4 attempts over 7 days). During retries, your plan stays live. After max retries, the org drops to Free; data stays accessible (read-only past Free caps), updating payment restores the original plan.
- Does Dock support international cards?
- Yes, every Stripe-supported country. Some 3D Secure / SCA flows redirect through your bank; Stripe handles that. If a charge keeps failing, check with your bank for international transaction blocks before contacting Dock support.
- Can I pay annually for Dock?
- Annual prepay available on Pro and Scale; saves ~17% (12 months for the price of 10). Email `billing@trydock.ai` to set up; Stripe invoices the annual amount upfront and the subscription renews monthly behind the scenes.
- Does Dock store my credit card details?
- No. Stripe stores the card on its PCI-compliant infrastructure; Dock stores only the Stripe customer id + last-4 + brand for display. Updating or removing the card flows through Stripe portal, never through Dock's database.
- Can I have multiple payment methods on my Dock org?
- Yes, in the Stripe portal. One is marked default for invoice charges; others stay on file as backup. Useful for redundancy in case the primary card expires or the issuer blocks a transaction.
- How do I remove a payment method from my Dock org?
- Stripe portal → Payment methods → kebab → Delete. Cannot remove the default if it's the only one and you have an active subscription; add another card first, set it default, then delete the old one.
- Does Dock charge sales tax or VAT?
- Stripe Tax handles location-based tax automatically. VAT shows up on EU invoices; US sales tax on applicable US states. Tax appears as a line item on the invoice; the subscription price stays at the listed Pro $19 / Scale $49.
